Doon Po Sa Amin

Project Description
Doon Po Sa Amin (DPSA) is a project initiated by Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) under its corporate social responsibility program Kabalikat, and is aimed at encouraging teachers and students to use computer and Internet technologies to generate web-based information and educational materials about their respective communities. This project is in line with Smart’s thrust to promote information and communications technology (ICT) integration in basic education.

Vision
Our goal is to be the leading catalyst in building an online network of educators and learners who are highly capable of generating rich local content for the promotion and development of communities.

Mission
A nationwide online community network of basic education practitioners truly enabled to develop lifelong learning among students and the community.

Project Goals

  1. To create a dynamic online platform for the creation and distribution of user-generated local content
  2. To train and organize a highly motivated corps of basic education practitioners who will drive the creation of rich local content
  3. To design and implement a sustainable incentive program for local content generation
  4. To leverage partnerships that will assist in the execution of the program

Project Components

  1. Partnerships
    • The Doon Po Sa Amin project is implemented through the Smart Schools Program (SSP), Smart’s flagship education initiative, which promotes ICT in basic education through partnerships with public schools, its officials and parents-teachers-community associations (PTCAs).
  2. Website Hosting Services and Online Resources
    • As member of the Smart Schools Program, schools are provided with website hosting services and educational content available in the Doon Po Sa Amin (www.doonposaamin.ph) and Smart Schools Program (www.smartschools.ph) websites.
  3. Training Program
    • To further prepare teachers and students for the Doon Po Sa Amin project, Smart provides training programs that include modules on website design and development, research methodologies, basic photography and image manipulation, and blogging.
  4. Incentive Programs
    • Teachers and students are encouraged to participate in the following activities:
      1. Doon Po Sa Amin Learning Challenge
        • Designed for SSP partner high schools and Online Associates (high schools), the Doon Po Sa Amin Learning Challenge is the major DPSA competition where teacher-student teams perform basic community mapping exercises to generate local content which will help their respective communities be educated about and/or address pertinent local problems or issues. Final output of the competition for the competition is a website designed and developed by the teacher-student team.
      2. Doon Po Sa Amin Quest
        • Designed for SSP partner elementary schools and Online Associates (elementary schools), the Doon Po Sa Amin Quest is engages teacher-student teams to research unique stories about their respective communities and narrate these stories online through their blog sites.
      3. “Ano ang Kwento Mo?”
        • Ano ang Kwento Mo is open to all private and public high school teachers and students nationwide. It is a contest where teacher-student teams are engaged to create video blogs to feature a distinct characteristic, place, or culture in their communities.
