What is the “Doon Po Sa Amin” Quest?
The “Doon Po Sa Amin” Quest is one of the contests under the “Doon Po Sa Amin” Project. It is a sustainable incentive program for local content generation.

What are the objectives of the “Doon Po Sa Amin” Quest?
The “Doon Po Sa Amin” Quest aims to:
To engage teachers and students from Smart Schools Program partner elementary schools nationwide to generate local content using community mapping techniques and information and communication technology (ICT)
To promote ICT integration in basic education through curriculum-based topic categories, and to encourage teachers and students to use local content in curriculum applications
To develop students’ skills in research, writing, leadership, teamwork, and technology
To encourage schools to build relationships with other Smart Schools partners and groups within their local communities, and to rouse students’ community awareness

What is the difference between DPSA and DPSA Quest?
DPSA is the overall project which includes an incentive program for schools, web hosting, trainings, content aggregation and promotion, and a contest. The DPSA Quest is one of the contests under the DPSA project.

Who can join DPSA Quest?
DPSA Quest is open to teachers and students of all Smart Schools Program partner elementary schools and Online Associate (elementary schools) nationwide.

Can one Teacher Coach handle more than one Student Group?
Yes, a Teacher Coach can handle more than one Student Group. A Teacher Coach can also serve as an Assistant Coach to another Student Group.

A member of our School Team withdrew from the project. What should we do?
The Adviser/Moderator/Teacher Coach should immediately notify the Smart Schools Program to update their registration.

Can one Student Group register more than one project?
Yes, a Student Group can work simultaneously on different projects under different Topic Categories. However, to maintain the quality of each project, DPSA recommends a maximum of 5 entries per Student Group.

Can a Student Group be comprised of students from different grade levels or sections?
Yes, students from one section or from other sections and grade levels can form one Student Group.

How many students can join a Student Group?
The recommended number of students per Student Group is 10-15 only. Minimum number of students per Student Group is 5.

Is there a maximum number of Student Groups per school?
None. A school may register as many Student Groups as preferred, provided each Student Group is endorsed by the Adviser.

Our school has a website already but it is not hosted by the Smart Schools Program. Can our school still join the DPSA contest?
The participating school’s official website must be hosted by the Smart Schools Program. All SSP partner schools and Online Associates can avail of the free web hosting service. For schools with existing website hosted by a different provider, we require a mirror of the school’s website be hosted under the Smart Schools Program hosting service. For inquiries on the SSP free web hosting service, please email smartschools@smart.com.ph.

Our school’s website is hosted by SSP but it does not have a section allotted for “Doon Po Sa Amin.” Can our school still join the DPSA contest?
Yes! The school webmaster can just create a DPSA section in your school’s website. This section is where all the titles (with links to the entry website) of the school’s DPSA entries will be posted.

Where do we upload the blog site for our DPSA Quest entry?
The Student Group may create a free blog account in any of the following recommended blog hosting services:

What should our blog site contain?
The DPSA Quest Entry Blog Site must contain the following pages or posts:
1. Title with English subtitle – must follow the format “Doon Po Sa Amin…”
Example:
Title: “Doon Po Sa Amin, Itim ang Kulay ng Ginto”
Subtitle: “The Duhat Fruit: Our Treasure, Our Pride”
2. Brief description of the chosen topic and title (background story of the topic, and significance of the story)
3. Methodology (materials and skills/techniques used to complete the project)
4. Team Profile (list of members and roles)
5. Body (the main story of the topic) – this can be further divided into parts, depending on the outline of your story
6. Bibliography/Credits

Where can we get the required registration and entry forms?
All the DPSA forms from the DPSA Register Section.

Why do we need to document our research process? How do we present it?
One of the Evaluation Criteria for entries is the DPSA School Team Collaboration. The Team Profile would show how each member of the team performed the tasks needed to complete the entry. The research and information gathering processes, web page design methods, and other activities of the team can be documented through photos or a visual narrative.

What is rich local content?
A rich local content defines and promotes a community and its people, culture and values, society, geography, and other unique characteristics. A rich local content is a collection of facts, stories, and research studies about a particular group, tribe, community, barangay, or region.

How is local content generated?
To be able to generate rich local content, community-based research methodologies are applied. For DPSA Quest, the Contest Theme and curriculum-based Topics will serve as guide for the teachers and students in order that generation, analysis, and presentation of local content will be more relevant using curriculum applications.

What is the Contest Theme for DPSA Quest?
The DPSA Quest theme for S.Y. 2010-2011 motivates teachers and students to take their learning journey from the classrooms to the communities by rediscovering the beauty and uniqueness of their homeland. By revisiting and exploring our communities, we get the opportunity to re-learn the stories of our ancestors and communities, and to promote the unique characteristics of our country, its people and natural resources.

What are the curriculum-based Topics for DPSA Quest?
A Student Group, together with the Teacher Coach, can choose from any of the four (4) DPSA Quest Topics:
- People We Admire
- Plants and Animals
- Events and Places to See
- Cuisine

What should our Story contain and how can we present it?
Be creative! Your Focus Study/Story should be a visual narrative which contains:
- a complete research article or story about your subject
- photos
- tables, charts, graphs (for statistical data)
- drawings, art pieces
- graphics, computer-based images and animations
- other supporting materials that will help illustrate your story (maps, sound clips, etc.)

Our team does not have a camera. What should we do?
You can use a camera phone or borrow from your neighbors/friends. Toeffectively present your Focus Study/Story, you can also draw or creategraphics/animations.

How can we promote our website?
All entries will be featured in the “Doon Po Sa Amin” and Smart Schools Program websites. You can promote your website by inviting your friends, school alumni, and community members to check out your Focus Story project online. Update and maintain the contents of your website.

Can we use other resources like books, journals, publications, and articles from the World Wide Web?
All materials (data, stories, photos, images, web page design, etc.) to be used in the contest entry must be original. References must be taken from reputable sources which should be cited properly in the entry. All Focus Study/Story must have a bibliography. Plagiarism results in immediate disqualification from the contest.

What if the other Student Group from another school has the same topic or subject for their Focus Study/Story as ours?
This is okay, provided the content and presentation of the story are not the same.

We noticed that the entry of one Student Group contains some plagiarized content. What should we do?
Kindly report to the Smart Schools Program any plagiarized material or content immediately.

Can we put our school logo in our blog site?
Yes, provided the team has the permission of the school administration.

Do we need to put the Smart Schools logo in our blog site?
Yes, the Smart Schools logo, hyperlinked to the Smart Schools Program website URL (http://www.smartschools.ph/) MUST be posted in your website.

Intellectual Property rights
Intellectual Property rights will remain in the hands of the content creators. For content and materials not created by the project teams, it is the responsibility of the project teams to secure permission for use from the original owners. By submitting the entries to DPSA, the team members and the school is also giving Smart the permission to use all content for non-commercial purposes in all kinds of media, including the Smart Schools and DPSA websites.

How will the entries be evaluated?
All registered entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Educational Content - Did the Student Group deeply explore the subject and apply community mapping techniques to generate data and stories?
- Are the stories and/or video content original?
- Are sources properly cited?

- Does the video blog site use proper design and layout to effectively present the content or story?

- When will the “Doon Po Sa Amin” Quest be launched?
The “Doon Po Sa Amin” Quest opens every June.
- When can the schools register for the contest?
The registration period for the DPSA contest is from June to August.
- When is the deadline for the completion of entries?
All registered entries must be completed on or before November 11, 2011. Exact date of deadline will be announced in the DPSA website.
